The
NODA ADO Cricket Tournament was held on Sunday, April 22 at Airway Lanes.
We had 8 men and 3 women show up
to compete.
The
women’s group (Hearts) had Lisa Jones, Carol Dobek, and Jacquelynn Boughner.
Lisa Jones defeated Carol Dobek, 3-0 to win the women’s bracket.
Congratulations to Lisa.
She will be representing NODA at
the National Qualifier later this year.
All
the men played in the Spades group.
In
the men’s group (Spades) we had Pat Whelan, Tim Jones, Randy Whelan, Ron
Burrows, John Upham, Mike Dobek, Dave Peacy, and Michael Abbott.
The Tim, Ron, Mike, and Michael
advanced to the second stage.
The final results from the first stage:

John Upham – 7 points
Tim Jones – 10 points
Ron Burrows – 11 points
Michael Abbott – 14 points
Mike Dobek – 14 points

Per ADO tournament rules, their
results were completely stricken from the records.
In the second stage:
Round 1:
Tim Jones (2) defeated Ron Burrows (1)
Mike Dobek (3) defeated Michael Abbott (0)
Round 2:
Ron Burrows (3) defeated Michael Abbott (0)
Mike Dobek (3) defeated Tim Jones (0)
Round 3:
Tim Jones (2) defeated Michael Abbott (1)
With Ron Burrows at 4 points and Mike Dobek at 6 points, Ron needed to defeat
Mike 3-0 to advance.
While Ron was on top of his game
(including an 800+ game vs. Abbott that featured four 7-marks by Ron in the
previous round), it was not meant to be on this day.
Mike continued his excellent
shooting and defeated Ron 2-1 to advance to the National Qualifier.
On
the day, we had a total of three 9-marks.
Ron Burrows had two and Tim Jones
had one 9-mark.
Once again, thank you to all those that showed up for the tournament.
Based on the low turnouts, I will
do my best to schedule the 501 All Star and Cricket qualifiers on Saturdays next
year.
